This new chapter of DIECI DITA's Creator Series welcomes a music artist, deeply in touch with the themes of existence: Laçin Martynov.
Existence. Emotions. Expression. For Laçin Martynov, these are the significant themes that shape her vision as an artist and an individual. Born in 1998, Laçin's music does not only hold the essence of the new generation; but the timelessness of processing certain emotions makes Martynov an artist that can touch anyone by heart. No boundaries do exist, if we are speaking of Laçin; and this is why her words coming right out of her heart without any filter makes our new Creator Series even more delicate. As Laçin keeps creating through the empowerment rooted in the joy of her own existence, here comes a totally intuitive, pure and natural interpretation to creativity. Enjoy our interview with the talented music artist, as Laçin deeps dive into her artistic roots.

DIECI DITA: What made you start to create?
LAÇİN MARTYNOV: Creations, no matter how much or little work they require, are an extension of human existence. Therefore, people don’t start to create but they are creative, in my opinion. If I had any, my advantage would be to know that I was a creative being from very early ages. The things that make me speak are the things that make me create.
DIECI DITA: What is that one thing that makes you keep creating?
LAÇİN MARTYNOV: The joy of feeling my own existence, I’d say. It’s a bit weird answer but it is very much accurate.

DIECI DITA: How do you cope with creative blocks?
LAÇİN MARTYNOV: I use them as an excuse to do something entirely different. I think creative blocks are not obstacles but they are just a different type of topography of imagination. Best to use them while you can. :)
DIECI DITA: Do you have a muse?
LAÇİN MARTYNOV: The thing is that I don’t have a muse, I don’t particularly like everyone but I love loving anyone. People are amazing. That’s good enough, in my opinion.
DIECI DITA: How would you describe your personal artistic identity? Does it hold the essence of personal history, or is it closer to fantasy?
LAÇİN MARTYNOV: My personal artistic identity, unfortunately, is an exact reflection of the honesty and acceptance that I have within myself; for myself. I have no capacity to hide any aspect of my journey in life as a soul. I do many different things in many different ways and sometimes I fear that people get confused about my artistic fingerprint. I fear that maybe they wouldn’t recognize me in all of this, after all. But then, I try to remember that maybe, just maybe, my works are not laying down who I am in a sequel but more in like the pictures of the same landscape in different hours of the day and through the seasons.

DIECI DITA: What is your definition of perfection in the arts?
LAÇİN MARTYNOV: For me, perfection is a good ratio between emotions and craftsmanship. It’s like a well whetted dagger right through the heart. It’s the curated honesty.
DIECI DITA: What would you change in the contemporary creative industry?
LAÇİN MARTYNOV: Contemporary creative industry sometimes gives me a feeling of urgency; the urgency to turn everything into a content. Sometimes, the lack of craftsmanship and rushing through the processes give me the ick. When there is no backstage for the performances, there might be no performance, after all. It is not a bad thing to wait and work for the performance to reveal itself than trying to mold every experience into a performative content.
DIECI DITA: Is there a setting, moment, or a place you experience when you need some
inspiration?
LAÇİN MARTYNOV: When I want to be inspired, I go to spaces where life is inviting. I try to awaken my curiosity and stand tall while being aware that each moment is my first and the last time of living it. Feeling of this thought makes me giggle.
